LAGOS — The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing at the command headquarters, stating that detectives had commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the police commissioner, the matter was reported on May 7, 2026, after Alebiosu discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed in a package delivered to him.
The parcel was initially received by the bank executive’s security guard before it was handed over to him.
Sources familiar with the incident said the parcel was delivered to Alebiosu’s residence in the Ikoyi area through a dispatch rider. The package was reportedly marked confidential and bore only the recipient’s name and address, with no information identifying the sender.
Tijani stated that no arrest had been made in connection with the incident, adding that forensic and intelligence-led investigations were ongoing to establish the source of the parcel.
