MAKURDI – Former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has vehemently rejected a government inquiry report that accused him of leaving N139.8 billion unaccounted, labelling the exercise a “carefully scripted political witch-hunt” by his successor, Governor Hyacinth Alia. Ortom’s media aide insisted the probe is legally challenged, with an appeal pending at the Court of Appeal, and accused Alia of using the report to deflect from his own governance failures—including insecurity and displaced persons. The eight-member panel had reviewed N826.5 billion in revenue, but Ortom maintains all financial records were properly audited.
