Ivory Coast secured their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after a clinical 2-0 victory over Curaçao in their decisive Group E clash on Thursday.
The Elephants produced a composed performance, with Nicolas Pépé scoring twice to ensure the West African side progressed to the knockout stage. Youngster Yann Diomandé delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Pépé, who calmly slotted home in the 35th minute.
Curaçao attempted to respond after the restart but struggled against an organised Ivorian defence. Pépé struck again in the 64th minute, with Ibrahim Sangaré providing the assist.
Despite late bookings for Curaçao captain Juninho Bacuna and Gervane Kastaneer, the Caribbean side failed to find a way back. Ivory Coast recorded their second victory of the group stage, having previously defeated Ecuador before narrowly losing to Germany.
