Abuja – The Federal Government has fixed December 2028 as the final deadline for transitioning from analogue to digital television broadcasting.
National Broadcasting Commission Director-General Charles Ebuebu announced the renewed Digital Switch Over project targets 40 million television households with up to 100 free-to-air channels via satellite technology.
The new satellite-based approach replaces the previous terrestrial model, providing immediate nationwide coverage. Ebuebu noted the analogue switch-off would free spectrum valued at approximately $50 billion for telecommunications and other services.
