Osogbo – Security forces have apprehended Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in a village within Osun State’s Ijesaland region.
The arrest, executed by the Federal Investigation Department/IRT, came hours after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s capture. The suspect had been under surveillance by the Department of State Services for five days before the police special unit took over the operation.
Osun State Police Command spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed Adeyemi is now en route to Abuja.
Justice Umar issued the warrant following an oral application by police lawyer Wisdom Madaki, noting that the defendant had failed to appear for arraignment on four consecutive occasions. Adeyemi faces an eight-count charge related to forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
Adeyemi, who maintains PFIPC is a legitimate agency, has demanded an independent investigative panel and alleges he paid N400 million for his appointment. The case continues to draw political attention, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar calling for the suspension of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to allow unfettered investigation.
