Super Falcons Striker Flourish Sabastine Joins Benfica from Fenerbahçe

Super Falcons striker Flourish Sabastine will not be extending her contract with Turkish Women’s Super League champions Fenerbahçe, as she has completed a move to Campeonato Nacional Feminino champions Benfica.

The Portuguese club announced the signing of the Nigeria international on Monday, with the attacker putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2029. Benfica also hold an option to extend the deal by a further year, keeping Sabastine at the club until the end of the 2029-30 season.

Ucheibe’s Advice Played Key Role

Before completing the move to Benfica, Sabastine consulted the club’s former midfielder Christy Ucheibe, whose advice played a key role in convincing her to accept the challenge.

Player Profile

A versatile forward capable of playing on either wing, Sabastine is renowned for her pace, dribbling and clinical finishing.

The 21-year-old began her senior career with Bayelsa Queens, winning three domestic titles before spells with Stade de Reims, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, where she lifted the Turkish league title last season.

International Career

On the international stage, Sabastine represented Nigeria at the 2022 and 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cups, scoring the winning goal against France in the 2022 tournament.

She made her senior debut for the Super Falcons in October 2022 in a friendly against Japan.
