The governor has approved the formation of a Consensus Committee on Party Harmonisation and Aspirants’ Engagement ahead of the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in what many observers see as an effort to prevent internal clashes and strengthen party cohesion before the race to the polls intensifies.
According to a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the committee’s mission goes beyond ordinary political meetings. It is expected to bring together aspirants, party leaders, and stakeholders for dialogue aimed at reducing friction, building consensus, and maintaining stability within the party ranks.
The statement explained that the committee would particularly focus on constituencies where multiple political interests are competing, helping to broker peaceful resolutions and, where necessary, encourage some aspirants to step down voluntarily for the sake of party unity.
Leading the committee is the Deputy Governor, alongside the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and several senior government and party figures, signaling how seriously the administration is treating internal party harmony.
The state government says the initiative reflects Governor Uba Sani’s style of leadership—one that prioritizes consultation, inclusion, and political cooperation rather than division.
With election season gradually approaching, the administration believes the consensus-driven strategy could help position the APC as a more organized and united force at the polls, while avoiding the kind of internal disputes that often weaken political parties before major elections.
As political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the next elections, Uba Sani has taken a strategic step to calm tensions and keep the ruling party united in Kaduna State.
