Lionel Richie was forced to end a concert in St. Paul early after falling ill on stage, prompting concern among fans about the music legend’s health.
Richie was performing his hit song Dancing on the Ceiling at the Grand Casino Arena when he reportedly became dizzy. Videos shared on social media showed the veteran singer continuing with the performance despite appearing visibly uncomfortable before eventually sitting down on stage.
Determined to continue, Richie moved to the piano and began performing another classic, Three Times a Lady. However, he left the stage unexpectedly a short time later. His saxophonist, Dino Soldo, then informed the audience that Richie was unwell and would not be able to complete the show.
The performance marked the opening night of Richie’s latest U.S. tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, scheduled for 26 concerts through mid-August. No official statement has been issued regarding the cause of his illness.
