Abuja – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for an independent investigation into a N6.44 billion budgetary allocation for “Special Presidential Support Group for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers,” despite Nigeria’s elimination from qualification in November 2025.
Atiku questioned how a serious government could budget such funds after the country had already been knocked out of contention, labeling the allocation as evidence of fiscal waste and dubious budgeting practices.
The presidential candidate linked this controversy to the PFIPC scandal, accusing the administration of attempting to manipulate narratives and shield officials from scrutiny
